How about try a mask?

throat lozenges with zinc, 1 every half hour or so for about 2-3 hours when you start noticing irritation or straight off the bike. a bit hairy tasting but can work well.

Yea, they do taste like [censored], but they work (even if they make you think that you are feeling better...Placebo effect, gotta love it😉 )
There is a brand called Coldeez, pick it up wherever.
Also, if it feels like a cold, use Airborn. Loaded with vitamins, minerals etc. (Don't blame me if you test positive on a random drug test... Well. That's a different story...:p ) Tastes alright, comes in little 'alka-seltzer' capsules that fizzle in water.
Also, your body might just be adjusting to the cold, dry air. Since it is fall down there, right? Might go away after a while.
