Caltrops might also work, but I feel that either tactic might be frowned upon by the
Organisators :-)

Wren turbines. wren-turbines.comwren-turbines.comOpen ↗ Astonishing small (down to 44mm dia turbines) jet
engines, ideal for mounting on pannier racks, or covertly under the seat. However, at only 12lbs
thrust (and that's the big one), I'm not sure it will be the dominating effect sought. The mark 2 is
promised at maybe 18lbs, though.

I should think 12 lbs of thrust would be hugely significant.The noise might be a bit of a give

Nah, what Carol /really/ needs is a Heinzmann hub motor cunningly concealed behind a wheel disc.
Rather less noisy and obtrusive than anything burning dead bug juice.

Thanks - but in fairness, I was nearly always the slowest rider on the track (I think I actually
beat a guy on a LWB at Hayes, but I wouldn't swear to it) - the only reason I got so many points is
that I turned up for more events than nearly everybody else - and since I'm Rob's chaffeuse, that
isn't even down to any virtue on my part :-)

No way am I putting wheel discs on Perdita :-)

What I *really* need are some legs that pedal quickly :-) I'll try to work on that over the winter,
but don't anybody hold their breath :-)

At least I now have a new cycle pooter to replace the one that fried at Castle Combe, so I can once
again tell exactly how slow I'm going...
