Long rear racks

Well I'd rather move it back, though I guess up would be okay as well.

Most of racks are about 30-32cm in length. The Jandd Expedition is 41cm.
I think there are some other longer racks, but usually the specs are not
included on the merchant or manufacturer site.

I did find one of the racks from Nashbar is 40cm/15.75" (no thanks to
Nashbar's help, I found a manufacturer's (Bor Yueh) web site,
"http://www.allproducts.com/manufacture11/boryueh/324b.html"😉. This may
be good for what I need, and it's only $15. I also would like the mount
for the rear light, which this one has. I have big feet (11.5"/46), and
with some panniers the heel clearance is a problem. An extra 8 cm or so
would make a big difference.

With the Arkel Bug, the mounting system lets you adjust where it mounts
on the rack, but with the 32cm racks it's mounted really far back with
the two supports very close together.

It'd be nice if Nashbar put the specs of products onto their web site.

Isn't the Jandd Expedition higher as well? I've got one of these and it
solved my heel strike problems. I don't have handy a regular rack to compare
it to.

They use to make these rack covers that could just be placed longer on the
rack if you wanted. I think they were made to keep the mud off with no
fenders. They clip on top and can just be placed farther back. Thick,
strong nylon composition.

IIRC, Axiom has an adjustable rack they call the Odyssee.
I'm afraid I don't have any specs available at-hand right now.

Anyway, Axiom might be another brand name for you to investigate,
as they have a variety of configurations.

I thought I was ordering the same thing from Nashbar, but what I got
yesterday is actually different, and much shorter (more like 12" or
13" long front to back). Looking at the pictures more closely, I see
that they're different. The legs that attach near the rear wheel axle
are separate, adjustable pieces on the one I got.

It's too cheap to bother returning for a refund, though I must say I'm
not particularly impressed with the quality of the Bor Yueh Urban
rack--alignment is a bit off pretty much on the whole thing. The
materials and hardware look decent though.
