very interesting - I wonder if this means a new SL is coming out or if the SL will be phased out altogether -

There is/may be a new SL coming out. I doubt they would phase it out altogether since there is still a weight difference, and some people are not ready to just to the wireless option yet. Also, since I just got my SL yesterday it is almost guaranteed there is a new version on the way...
