The Summit Daily News (what passes for a newspaper around here)
publishes a guide to the mountain bike rides and paved multi-use paths
around here every summer, it's available for free in local bike shops
and wherever the Summit Daily is distributed. There's usually a link to
a PDF file of the guide on the newspaper's website (www.summitdaily.com)
during the summer months.

I know of three products for the Breckenridge area. If you don't get
what you need from the excellent Summit Daily News site, check some of
these out.

There is a map just for mountain biking in Breckenridge called
Breckenridge Mountain Biking and Hiking. You can find it here:

It was published in 1994 and not updated since. I don't know what has
changed, but i'm sure that things have. It's not as professional
looking as some of the others, but really easy to use, because it's a
simple gray USGS map with colored trail overlays. There are 20 trail
descriptions.

Latitude 40 maps are my favorite maps ever. They are beautiful maps
made by locals that really have an eye for design and usability. They
make a Summit County Trail map ( http://2pedal.com/store/productView.php?prod=9781879866218
) that includes Breckenridge, and is much more up to date, but at a
larger scale, and not as specific.

Holly Annala is a mountain bike guide, instructor, and author from
Crested Butte. She has written a guide book called Mountain Bike
Summit County & Vail Singletrack ( http://2pedal.com/store/productView.php?prod=9780972305013
..) It describes 13 rides in the Breckenridge area, and has more trails
in Summit County and Vail if you couldn't guess from the title!

If you just plan on riding Breck, get the Breck one. It's the cheapest
and should have all you need. If you think you'll be back to explore
more of Summit County, get one or both of the others. They are both
high quality and recently published. Sometimes the best way to ride is
to not buy a map and just talk to people at shops and hook up with
them or their customers for some rides with the locals!
