  1. I have a first generation Giro "Hammerhead" (if I recall the name
correctly...) that used to require cutting the length for UCI
compliance while the USCF allowed it as sold.

Is this helmet still legal, and how does it perform compared to the
latest generation of TT helmets (that are now required to meet the
same standards as the helmet req's for mass start events)?

I think it is odd that products these days rarely disclose any wind
tunnel testing results and just use subjective statements to market
them. IIRC, there are some helmets that performed really well when the
vents were covered, but this was years ago. I would also be curious to
see comparisons of the various mass-start helmets. I know there are so
may variables related to position but isn't the head up high enough
that most of not all riders will have the same relative results
    between helmets?

Another result I would love to see is how well the "dual-role" frames
like the Cervelo Soloist and similar frames compared to a few
conventional frames. With the UCI minimum weight so easy to achieve
these days, II would have expected by now that there would be a lot
more focus on aerodynamics (not to mention use of power meters full-
time) instead of being compelled to add weights at weigh in. The
newest Trek bikes have pre-threaded receptacles for ballast attachment
so that the mechanics are not forced to drop chains down the seat tube
or resort to similar last moment hacks.
