Headset removal

Try using a penetrating fluid first. I like P-Blaster. You can find
it in many discount automotice stores. The the nut and let it soak
for a few hours. Spray again and then let it sit over night. Next
day try again.

I concure.

In addition, I've had luck in the past with wedging a flat head
screwdriver into one of the three notches and hitting it with a
hammer, as well as grabbing it with a pipe wrench.

A Hozan [HKC] #205 wrench is the right tool but if you just want it off,
slit it. A hacksaw cut vertically, just tangential to the top of the
thread, will let you break it away.
These were handy when it was common to add/remove CP brake hangers. You
can add spacers as needed without it.

yeah if you don't want to cut it off or its irreplaceable
soaking in pcblaster or paint thinner/diesel fuel
take the bar off, cut a 5 gallon can
put the headset in the can
fill with fuel
cover can with aluminum foil
and let it sit there for two weeks
occasionally removing to tap with a hammer
then heat till cherry red and remove
with the hacksaw
you could take it over to gasoline alley or the lbs and have it
torched
