I am rebuilding a 1974 Schwinn Town and Country trike. This is the model that has a true differential driving both rear wheels. I would like to remove the axles and am unsure of how to proceed.
Has anyone done this that might have some advice. It appears that the axles attach via spring pins that pass through the wheel hubs and what appears to be the differential hubs. The problem is that I have removed the wheels and removed the spring pins on the differential and the axle does not slide out. It is possible that corrosion and gunk has "glued" the axles to the hubs but I want to be certain before attacking this. I have used penetrating oil to no avail.

I have a 1980 Schwinn Town & Country Tri-wheeler made in Chicago. It is a 3-speed and has an extra front basket as well. It had not been used for several years. Needless to say, it has quite a bit of rust and the tires are shot. Since I don't know anything about bikes, I don't know if other things work or not either.
Is this regarded as a vintage trike? Any suggestions on what I should do - get someone to restore it or junk it, etc.
