  1. A friend of mine has a Cannondale Scalpel with full XTR. It's a 2004 model and lately on races and some hard training rides he encountered the following problem. For some reason the front derailleur turns sideways (probably by the force of the chain going up or down) or simply slides lower to the tube. He is a very good rider and this problem has cost him some very good placings on the races he competes in.
Has anyone faced the same or similar problem?
Any thought or opinion would be appreciated.

  2. My first thought is that he might have had a shim in place for an oversized clamp that either was dislodged or inadvertently removed during routine maintenance.
