So, I'm nosing around wiggle, and put a couple of things in my wishlist.
About £120 worth (enough for the 20% discount).
Several hours later, a £5 discount voucher arrives by email, presumably not
a coincidence.
Hurrah, an extra fiver off!
So of course, I have to buy said items.

Peter

Rgds,
PeterI get the impression from Wiggle's promotions etc that the business is
perhaps experiencing "challenging" conditions - the business was refinanced
at the end of last year, and then of course there was the alleged credit
card problem that allegedly emanated from Wiggle where loads of card details
were accesses - including mine. That said I haven't been put off purchasing
from Wiggle - excellent service and (usually) good prices - I just don't
leave my credit card details on their systemRG

Rgds,
PeterBy the way, if you want the 20% off, and don't need £100 of kit now, but
know you will be buying again in future, I noticed you can add gift
vouchers to your basket to make it up to a ton. You don't get 20% off the
vouchers (which would be an interesting scam), but everything else is still
discounted. -

This smacks of rank rumour mongering to me!
I have bought from Wiggle successfully for over 3 years now and have never
had a problem. Their sales response is excellent and they will always
answer questions and give advice. Their delivery is far better than most
others. Prices are also competitive.I took delivery of an item only yesterday.
As far a I am aware they have always run promotions and with regular
spending I nearly always have at least 5% off!

experienced credit card fraud and also used wiggle recently", lots of
people can answer yes. Considering how many cyclists use wiggle, and how
many people in general experience CC fraud, this doesn't really tell us
anything.I believe this is how the wiggle-CC-fraud rumour started, and AFAIK there is
no other 'evidence'.Anthony

the same on-line shop all suddenly had CC fraud around the end of
November? I have had a number of credit cards for around 20 years, and
still have four, of which three are used regularly, plus my debit card.
In all that time (100 card/years?) with all those cards I have only
ever had two fraudulent transactions. One was years ago when a retailer
wrote an extra "1" on one of those old-fashioned swipe slips, and the
other was during November with a transaction for just £10.00 that was
picked up by my cards security department and blocked after talking to
me. Now I find that other people have had CC fraud at about the same
time using the same shop.I'm certainly not going to say "wiggle started this fraud", but
circumstantial "evidence", for want of a better word, might mean their
security is worth looking into further if it isn't already.--

small quantity wouldn't be noticed. They were picked up by me, rather than
the bank, but items for UGC Cinemas and Virgin Mobile stood out like a sore
wossname, as I don't have a Virgin mobile and hadn't been to the flicks for
months.OTOH someone drained TWFKAML's bank account last month and she's /never/
shopped with Wiggle.--

hard to know whether 'a number' is significant or just a coincidence.Anthony

"Don't be silly, Minnie. Who'd be walking round these cliffs with a gas
oven?"My card issuer phone me after their systems spotted frauds - they were a £5
top up for a mobile phone, £2 a month to a charity and then a £1,200.00
airline ticket. I had to verify various payments of mine and during the
discussion they said the source was believed to be Wiggle - and lots (like
100+) people on various cycling fora reported card hits at the same time and
they were all Wiggle customers. Interestingly Wiggle suddenly started
taking payments via Paypal as well as by a direct card transactions.BUT as I said in an earlier post I still use Wiggle (too much!!!) but either
pay with Paypal or do not leave my card details with themRG

on 15 Jan 07.About 2 weeks later I was contacted by my card issuer and have had to
have my card reissued with a different number due to high-value
fraudulent transactions.I hope it's a coincidence, because if it isn't it could kill Wiggle,
which seems a good site otherwise.I did one or two other online transactions around the same time -
either of them is just as likely to be the problem.Colin McKenzie

walking.

I had my credit card cancelled a week or two ago. I had outstanding
transactions with Wiggle, Amazon and one other company (an obscure
bookseller). It couldn't have been anyone else. Most probably it
wasn't Amazon as this would have hit the media. So, it was either the bookseller or Wiggle.
My card issuer would not tell me who the dodgy merchant was for
reasons of data protection (sigh) so I had to re-do the orders with
new card details knowing that one of them was iffy. I left out the
bookseller, now I'm not sure that it wasn't Wiggle. -
