I have impaired glucose tolerance with hypoglycemia and have had for years. The diet originally
given to me to follow contains a lot of starches as well as fruits and vegies for carbs. I have
never had a reduction in my hypo spells on this diet and gained a lot of fat weight even though my
body is neither an apple or pear shape, am 5'5" and 155 ibs. I want to try eliminating the starch
foods-pototoes, rice, pasta, cereal etc. and replace them with lots of low glycemic vegies, some
fruit, protein foods and some fat/oils. My question is it reallly necessary to have the starch foods
in one's diet especially if I take a B vitamin supplement and obtain sufficient fibre from the
vegies and fruit? Has anyone with a blood sugar problem eaten this way? Thanks.
