  1. We need a new Public Information Film.
Complete with voiceover and cut-price graphics.

I suggest David Hansen plays the Railway Station sneak cyclist, complete
with dodgy fake 'tache, flat cap and large, beige overcoat. The camera
pans in to discover him loitering with intent (*) on a railway platform.
The overcoat cunningly conceals..... a folded Brompton BICYCLE waiting
to besmirch the legs of young secretaries innocently travelling to work
    with its filthy chain oil.

Further auditiont to take place on uk.rec.cycling

(*) Loitering with intent to board a train.

I could make it. I just picked up two awards for my "films" :

    <pedant>

Point of information: The chain of a folded BROMPTON is enclosed by the
cycle frame and can't easily besmirch anything.

The Cyclist Menace is devious. He will find a way.

Come on now - we have a filmmaker ready to go.
We need more suggestions for the cast of characters.

Helen for the disabled person the evil cyclist gives up his seat to?

[no offence meant; I'm guessing from what you've told us you wouldn't
refuse a seat offered on a crowded train]

Tony has landed a role. He plays a Concerned Member of the Public,
always on the Watchful Lookout for the fifth column Cyclist. He is ready
to make a Citizens Arrest at any moment.
Watchfulness is his word as he boards the Barking train

Indeed. The cads can disguise their bib-shorts in many ways.
Escapees from a Mr Muscle Ad indeed.

However, it is easy for people to trip over or bang their knees against
a folded Brompton, and not just on trains. A waiter in Patisserie
Valerie on the King's Road walked into mine as I waited at the ice cream
counter, and I think he would have hit me if he hadn't been in so much
pain. I mumbled my apologies, grabbed my cone and left hurriedly.

Pretty nice awards, but what's in the fruit bowl? Apples and ... socks?!
I see an idea for another safety video.

I didn't say a folded BROMPTON were not a heavy awkward lump, cos it are
    one of they.

How do you know that young secretaries don't like rubbing their legs
over the softness of the bike:-)

And mine is beyond my abilities right now as on Saturday I somehow
strained a ligament (picking up a cup of coffee) in the same shoulder I
hit during my collision with a sign post two weeks ago.

I've been in agony and almost immobile since, though this morning A&E
prescribed some heavy duty pain killers and anti-inflammatories, which
seem to be providing some relief.

At least I wasn't quite as bad as the patient in the cubicle next to me,
who came in suffering back pain. I overhead the doctor ask him to first
remove his shirt, which he did after some painful sounding movements.
Then she asked him to remove his shoes and trousers. The shoes
eventually came off after a struggle, but from what I heard, apparently
    the patient wasn't wearing underpants.
