Will the short cage Ultegra 600 rear derailleur work on a 9-speed shimano
system? I know it will shift but will the chain fit ok?

My brother bought a Trek OCLV in either the first or second year Trek
made them. 1991 or 1992. Came with Shimano 600EX. Still uses the
same rear derailleur and he is now using STI 9 speed.
