Make sure that you installed the derailler pulley cage correctly. It is easy to install the inside cage 180% out.

Well yes I did,

Given that it was the first time I've dimantaled my rear dr I was surprised and delighted by all the little bits and bobs I was left with after I had reassembled it (how many little wheels should it have?)

Anyway after much tea drinking and teeth sucking I used a 2lb fine adjusting tool and got the thing together.

So the skipping - got it sorted - I had too much initial tension on the cable that was pulling too keenly at the "relaxed" state i.e the highest gearing - slackened it off and whoosh whirr - great sunny morning in London today and I was gliding past the traffic.

Does anyone need a spare guide wheel by the way?
