Now that Tyler Hamilton has signed with Tinkoff, and is a racer again, do you think he will have the motivation to become a major player on the ProTour again? It will be tough, since he will have to listen to the allegations of "Doper!" 24/7.

Ya know...I'm finding it really tough to even care. I got back on a bike again this summer after a 6 year break. Last week I cruised on down to Borders to browse the magazine selection. I was really disappointed at the overwhelming presence of articles on doping. Bicycling, Cyclesport, the other euro mag, even my old favorite (Velonews) were all filled with "scandals" and "allegations". Talk about a boring read. I'd rather eat a dog turd than read that or follow the a$$hats involved in it all. My .02.

I guess college football, MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, the Kentucky Derby and the Olympics are out too. Nothing Corinthian about them either.
Tyler, Floyd, Lance, Roberto, Frankie, Michele made for great pharma WWE freaky entertainment. Basso, Pantani, Riis and Ulrich too.
Commercial sports should absolutely never be taken seriously.
It is a marketing business first and always, not a true sport.
Tyler is as clean as Floyd. Stick a fork in them both.

I agree there Flyer's.Finale, although Cycling is particularly transparent when dealing with doping which I actually think is a better way to be. I mean 150 of Dr Fuentes's (OpPéurto) clients are from Football(Soccer) & Tennis and yet those athletes seem to go completely unchallenged and without scandal by their respective federations, despite Dr Fuentes himself admitting he didn't just work with cyclists.
Re: Tyler though. I think he will simply carry on in the Pro-Continental ranks for a few years more myself. If he wins or looses he's a doper anyway in many people’s eyes. The only thing that might be in his favour is if the peleton is running scared this year and all the big players are not doping. He could then do well, although I’ve never rated Hamilton as a naturally gifted rider though! Granted, he’s a very good fighter, but never was a big time player in my eyes. Certainly not, if the alleged levels of chemical assistance he was using is to be believed anyway!

I don't think he will be a major player on the pro tour, he is getting on a bit in age now and has always had injury trouble, I think he will be used more as an educator for the younger guys in his team, he will be up near the front, but I don't think he will be winning anything.
Hope he proves me wrong though. -
Tyler Hamilton as an educator? That's a frightening thought!
Besdies lying and denial, Tyler and his post menopause hormones (HMG) have few skills. Not sure what he could teach a younger doper that the team chemists are not.
Tyler will attempt to scrape out a living wage the next two years, then disappear from our view, hopefully forever.
btw: he has NEVER stopped doping. Not even for one day.

Yeah. In fact, he probably turned it up a notch since he wasn't being tested. HGH and IGF-1 R are drugs that produce results usually six months down the line. Both those compounds are proven to generate new muscle cells and layer them on top of existing muscle cells. And, they are injection site-specific, meaning, if you inject in the calf, your calf grows. Problem with those two compounds is, they can make your internal organs grow if used improperly. Several years back body builders discovered HGH and IGF-1 was site specific. Prior to that, they were injecting sub-q, usually grabbing a fold of skin on the belly. They were also running higher dosages for shorter periods so the compounds were getting into the bloodstream and thus the internal organs. Soft tissue grows pretty fast. Have you ever noticed Ulrich's stomach... I know people say it's from beer, but even when he's fit it bulges. It's likely from HGH. It's called HGH gut and you see guys down on South Beach sporting those. It's pretty crazy. Barry Bonds can tell you about it making your head grow.
Anyway, Hamilton likely never went off drugs during his ban. These drugs are easily obtainable on the internet and you don't need a doctor to use them either. Hamilton was likely running cycles of HGH for six months with three months off, same with the IGF-1 and running 12-week cycles of testosterone combine with nandralone and anavar, which would act on the new muscle cells produced by the aforementioned.
So, yes. I think he'll be successful and he might set a trend if he is. I've been waiting for a pro to come back in his 40s after using these compounds in training, untested for a couple years straight and setting the Pro Tour on fire. I wouldn't be surprised to see Lance Armstrong do this.
Thing about these compounds is, they're probably only a little more dangerous than racing a bicycle, especially under a doctor's supervision. Or, you can educate yourself, go on forums, ask questions... bla, bla, bla. It's only a matter of time before the general population starts using. Fact, there's likely more non-pros using than pros in all sports.
It is what it is.

helmetRoole2...
So then if it's happening like you're describing (and I don't doubt that it is being done) I suppose it's just a matter of monitoring the dosages VERY CLOSELY? I can't imagine coming back after being suspended for doping and continuing to use knowing full well that your every move will be under incredible scrutiny. I know the necessity to use at that level has got to be insane so I'm guessing you'd have to really be on top of your cheating game.
Years ago when I was a Cat. 3, we had a guy in my hometown that, like me, was mediocre. He was a chunky rider. Winter came and we didn't see him for about 3 months. When the spring races started he came out BAD. He had gotten so ripped and his power was simply through the roof. I was a decent sprinter but I went head to head with him a half dozen times and he just had so much torque. Several of us noticed that his jaw had become really squared off over the winter. I always wondered if he had done a cycle or two of HGH.

helmutRoole speaks the truth.
In the USA----one million high school teenagers are already abusing steroids. Most likely just oral Winstrol and testosterone creams. Often begins by ninth grade at age 15.
Unless they are going to USC or LSU where they must grow into apes by age 18 they can defer the injections. Last time I checked, there weren't one million professional athletes in all sports combined (Rugby, FIFA, tennis, football, baseball, track, cycling, badminton, cross country skiing, swimming, etc...
My point is that Rocke, Pfizer, Merck, Amgen, Bristol-Meyers, Bayer, Genetech, FibroGen, BresaGen are keenly aware of who buys their doping products. They are the drug dealers for God's sake.
Steroids, amphetamines, eGH, hGH, insulin, testosterone, cortisone-based steroids, salbutamol sales ARE NOT LIMITED to SICK people.
Healthly people buy these products too. Hundreds of millions in annual sales.
Tyler, Lance, Floyd, Roberto, Benoit and Frankie are the tip of a pharma marketing.

yeah, and the majority of the kids using steroids are girls!! trying to get the cut look of celebs. I just read this somewhere

Can you spot the difference.
I can respect Helmuts opinon and he gives a plausable comment.Flyers! nothing but tripe.
and before you [censored] on and say I must be a dopers fan, blah blah blah.
I'm not. Tyler in my opinion was as guilty as it gets and paid the penalty as such.As for the topic "Can Tyler do it? "
hmmmmm.... no, but I think he will make his presence known on a few occasions. In the TDF he'll stick with the main GC contendors for a while but when the crunch comes and pressure is applied I don't think he will match it.
