Couldn't find a definitive answer searching Google Groups. I was about
to repack an early 1980s Record front hub and the balls have decided to
find the farthest corners of my junk-strewn basement. I have a vague
recollection of 10 balls (7/32nds) per side. Is anyone (Andrew, Peter,
Sheldon, etc.) certain? Thanks.

-MikeDear Mike,
Rumor has it that there are nine 7/32 balls in a Record front hub:

Right, 7/32 inches, 10x10.Once open you can see the inner steel bearing race. Record and copies
are forged - big beautiful massive things with ground bearing surfaces.Campagnolo's less expensive stamped-cup models use 3/16" bearings as do
most other brands of front hub.Clean thoroughly use plenty of fresh grease.
