to skip over some. There is no savings in having the computer do or
not do things that you werent going to do anyway.

killfile is revealed.

No. NO. I usually just ignore anything referring to the person in the
file. In some cases it requires a bit of time to ignore, but as soon
as I see the person I've killfiled being quoted, I skip to the next
message.

I *think* there is only one guy in RB* in my killfile but I don't
really remember or care.

Errr, I'm not really. When I killfile a thread I can't see it at all.
I could fiddle with my settings or killfile and see it again if I really
wanted to I suppose. As for authors, I'm usually just hitting tab to
jump to the next article. I'm using tin as my newsreader, not a
graphical client or google groups (as you yourself are).

The killfile allows me to raise my S/N ratio and read more worthwhile

Well, I do admit a nice meaty *plonk* now and again has issued from my
fingers, I usually quietly plonk people without announcing such.
Someone has to be an egregarious nitwit for me to publically plonk them.
Is it juvenile? Perhaps, though I also think it provides an expression
of opinion to the readers at large that the aformentioned nitwit is not
worth their bother to read. Of course, they can ignore my opinion or
not as it pleases them.

[1] I even have 'bicker' filters setup. i.e., When a pair of people
might have worthwhile posts, but invariably post-snipe each other, just
those posts are killfiled. I have a few dyads in that bozo bin.
