  1. This is cross posted in RSTriathlon and RSSwimming; hope it doesn't
    offend.

Now that i have my Treo 700p and am working to make it a single device
for everything I thought I might also look into what others are doing to
    track workouts.

Currently I have excel spreadsheets, a couple off-line programs on my
work PC, and regsitered with 2-3 online sites but haven't found anything
to beat the wall calendar and a sharpe.

So yeah I have 4 or 5 old "At-A-Glance" wall calendars with daily workout
totals on each weekeday and a running total on Saturdays.
It doesn't need to be too detailed, as I only really care about the
mileages and peripherally the times -- but I want weekly, monthly, yearly
    totals.

I have Docs-to-go and could just use the excel spreadsheet (which at
least I can tweak). Obviously free options are most appealing, though
for a truly outstanding program I would invest.

I use this spreadsheet I created (haven't cross posted to r.s.s). Feel
free to use or modify. Plus I have the non technical version which is on
a whiteboard above my desk that has the plan for the current week.

This is what I use, it works very well and it is free.

There is an area for each day of the year, for swimming, biking and running.

It has tabs for actual workouts (tab 1), planning your workouts (tab 2),
comparing actual to planned (tab 2), graphs are tab 3 I think, races
have their own tab, and these race dates light up on your training schedule.

There is tab to set wheel length, shoe type and starting km's/ or miles
on each pair of shoes, wheels, etc, and starting mileage for each of
your sports to date. This mileage accumulates when you select the pair
of shoes that you ran or, or wheels, etc.

Also you can change the program to miles or km's.

Swims are in meters not km's.

Regular routes can be added as you go along, or in the beginning, and
are ready to pull down from a pull down menu in each area. Swim workouts
will only show up in swims, bike routes in bike, and run route in the
    run area.

There is an area to set the date or year of workout you want to start
on, for instance Jan 1st, 2007. Please note this calendar is only good
for one year. However, you can start the .exe program again to make a
new calendar and export your current data in from the following year,
just make sure to name it a new year so it doesn't over ride your last
    years info.

I started my new calendar on December 28th, which was a Thursday, so all
of my workout plans start a fresh week on Thursday.

Therefore, when you set the start date, make sure that you set the first
day of use as the day of the week you want as your first day of the
week. ie, if you want your first day of each training week to be a
Monday, select Jan 1, 8, or 15th 2007 as your first day of use.

I currently have my start of week set to mid week and didn't notice
until after I had entered all of my info. When I changed the start date
the program moved my workouts to other days, so I set it back to midweek.

It doesn't keep track of weights or yoga, but it does let you put in
mileage and/or time spent on each workout and it calculates the miles or
    km's per hour.

At the end of each day's workouts there is an area to type in your
journal area for that day. You can also enter in time spent in each
    heart rate zone.

    There are instructions.

    Make sure you enable macros.

    Good luck,
    Tri

  4. Another no spreadsheet based alternative is the log on coolrunning.com

    http://www.coolrunning.com/log/

It does what you requested. yearly, monthly, weekly totals

You can access the web based tool from anywhere. You can set up your
profile to track, swim, bike, run, weights, yoga whatever. It can do mi
or km. track shoes, HR, add notes +more. You can do graphing of speed,
    distance, etc.

I've been using it for a few years now. The only disadvantage I see is
that I cant plan my workouts in advance with this tool.

  5. I was looking for the same and found a tool from Active.com:

    http://training.active.com/ActiveTrainer/logon.do

It's free, and you can plan and log all your training, weights, swims,
etc. It has a Reports section where you can get totals, graphs and
    stuff.

They only charge if you want to buy a training plan, but since I have
    my own, it's free.

Also, www.nikerunning.com has a training log and it's free as well. The
only disadvantage is that you can't print.

    Wow, very cool so far.
I am a member of active.com for various fun runs etc. so I already had an
account. The site looks like I could take my three years worth of wall
    calendars and upload them.

Can't wait to see how much flexibilty it offers.
