  1. It's winter in most places.

It occured to me that some people may be trying to reach me using email
address' that are not current. So, is there a service(free is best)
that will forward email sent to these not current address' to the
    current one?
    thanks in advance!!

Only the owner of the domain(s) that people are sending to can trap &
forward it. For example, if you switched from vecchios.com to, say,
campy.com you would have to ask the operators at vecchios.com to arrange
it for you. I would guess that the smaller ISPs might do it if they're
feeling particularly generous, the biggies like hotmail won't under any
    circumstances.

Years ago, I used Return Path:

    http://www.returnpath.net

It worked okay. Also a Google or Yahoo search for email forwarding will
    send you to several others.

And, under their new business model, I think you can still use your old
AOL addy, even if you're no longer a subscriber, to send out an address
    change.

How's life in the Republic with all that snow?

I sent an address change out but see in a "Tailhook members book, my
email is wrong, using the old, discontinued email address.

geezzz, what a mess. 6 ft high drifts from the plowing, rutted, icey
streets, particularly the side streets. Not gonna ride for a while.
Maybe, with temps above freezing for a week, maybe it'll be clear
enough to ride. BUT ain't gonna ride indoors either.....

    Dear Peter,

I was walking my dog yesterday down in Pueblo, where we have only a
few inches of snow, but the streets in my neighborhood are icy and
    snowpacked.

I was wearing my Yak Trax for traction (tire chains for shoes) and
congratulating myself for being so sensible and for not trying to ride
on the wretched streets when . . .

Two bicyclists came into view down the street.

Fine, I thought, probably a couple of foolish young fellows on
mountain bikes. Some frozen toes and a few bruises will teach them to
    imitate their wiser elders.

    The two bicyclists came closer.

Ha! They're going very slowly, I thought, and probably regretting
their foolish decision to try to bicycle when more experienced riders
    have given up.

The two bicyclists came close enough for me to see . . .

A pair of little girls, happily trundling around on the icy streets
for fun, both grinning like Halloween pumpkins.

    Cheers,

    Carl Fogel

You can usually go on retrieving your email from an ISP long after you
stop subscribing to them for dialup/ADSL etc., so you can either just
keep pulling all your old emails to the computer you normally use, or
set up a machine connected to the internet to retrieve them and forward
them to a new address. That's a bit more technical though.

To the OP: what may be easier is to set up yahoo mail
(http://mail.yahoo.com) to retrieve emails from other accounts and
forward them on, so that's probably the easiest way to do it.

So just set up a free yahoo account and go to "Options", and then "POP
Access and Forwarding" and follow the instructions.

The catch is you have to agree to let them send you a certain amount of
spam in return for this service on subjects you choose from a list. So
just choose one of them, and go for the most obscure-looking. In
practice you get very little spam from this, and it's sent to your free
yahoo account you just set up not your real account, so you can easily
    ignore it.

IIRC, using Return Path, you register your old email addys with them
and you receive a notice whenever someone attempts to contact you at
those addys. Somewhat circuitous, but it works.

Yikes! This sounds like my last winter in New England. There were elbow
high deposits on the sides of the roads into April. Reminds me of why I
    don't miss the place.

So long as we're OT, the sky's the limit, eh?

No, no, no, you've got it all wrong that bicycles and winter don't
mix. There are only 2 enemies of the winter cyclist: motorized
vehicles (rutting and dirtying the snow) and the emissions they create
(melting it). Soon those girls will understand and have less reason
to smile. Remove the traffic, and there ain't nothing more thrilling
than a snowscape, esp a freshly plowed road through deep snow into
high, rugged mtns, where it's too hard to live, so no one does.
Unfortunately that plowing is usually undertaken for the benefit of
motorized traffic, which quickly ruins it (ruts, slush, salt, etc).
But when a logging company, or rich people in isolated remote estates,
plow it to an eventual dead-end, cars have no use for it and you get
long glorious stretches through breathtaking scenery, and traction the
equal of summertime. And so long as there is no ice, you don't even
need studs. Unfortunately at the end you find a large tract where
there was a forest yesterday that is gone today, and wild animals
wandering about seemingly lost, dazed, and no longer smiling. At that
point I too stop smiling, and reluctantly turn back. Unfortunately they
don't plow Sunday afternoon so I had to turn back, but can hardly wait
for Monday! I'll feel like a kid again.

Are you just talking about weaning people away from your old email
addresses? I understand that you use a primary one for business, but
are you just trying to automatically direct people to your current one?
