I recently bought a bike for £25 from a charity shop and I was hoping someone might be able to tell me something about it. It's called a 'COLNAGO SPORT'. The brakes are wired back to front in the American style (right back/ left front). It has Campagnolo mechs, Stronglight cranks, 3TTT stem and seat post. On the drops outs is stamped Gipiemme. It has the clover decals, but nothing on the lugs. On the seat post decal it says 'PRODUCT BY VELOSPORT'. Is this a genuine Colnago? I would guess it was from the late 70s.early 80s .

Thanks for the link Dan, but mine's not as fancy as that, alas! It hasn't got a Columbus sticker, so I don't know what it's made of, though I would guess its double butted as its very light and is a very fast and comfortable ride.

A quick and dirty way to evaluate a steel frame is to measure the seatpost. 27.4 is rare and very light, 27.2 is great, 27mm could be a heavy duty tubeset and much thinner is cheap
