I can't remember the guy's name now, but there's a unicyclist that
rides on the North Shore and does a lot of the obstacles that the
bicyclists do. He even rides things like the teeter-totters and some of
the steep downhills. I've got a video of him in action and it's amazing
what he can do.

Did he ride the unicycle back down or did he ride down in a car? Riding the
unicycle back down would be even more impressive than riding it up.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I believe that Eddy Matzger, the
inline skater,
rode up and down the Ventoux on his race skates (no brakes). As you
point
out, he said that the descent was harder than the ascent. He first got
fit on his
skates by regularly going up the Berkeley hills (about 2000ft of
climbing) with
the UC Berkeley women's cycling team, which was fairly strong at the
time,
about 1990.

Valid point; he rode down on a regular bicycle. On the other hand, I
read on the website that he is planning a 4x assault for this year.
