Third Bidon Carrier

I'd suggest you don't do it, the bottle will get covered in crud ..
better off getting a tri-style multiple carrier to put behind your
saddle, or a camelback style bladder

But if you must, I'd suggest you clamp one on with hoseclamps or
similar rather than go drilling & welding, unless you're a very good
TiG welder or know someone that is.

I know that Minoura do a clamp-on bottle cage attachment that can be
attached or removed as the need arises....check out the QB-90 here:

Seconded. A few blokes I know have cages there, and they almost
universally dislike them except for super long touring in relatively clean
conditions. A camelbak can hold 3l comfortably, and the Deuter mesh style
won't even give you much of a sweaty back.

The third bidon cage is for a "toolbox" and it doesn't matter if its dirty.
Need comments about bike frame strength after drilling.
As the frame down tube is an 7005 alloy aluminium oval 55x50 mm, I don't
think the Minoura clamp will fit. (its for 31.8 mm diameter frame tubes if I
remember - look at http://www.minoura.co.jp/acc-e.html

It's going to depend on the quality of the welds. I'd use a clamp, esp
as the forces on it will be pulling it down a lot more than the forces
on a bottle cage inside the triangle, where gravity mainly works to
hold it in place.

And if it's for tools, is a decent saddle bag not an option? Guaranteed
not to bugger your frame 🙂
