My new Edge 305 gets confused when it is following a course. On a
course map preview and the zoomed in map display, when cycling along,
the track sometimes splits into two, one branch ends after a while and
the other continues on. It seems that with three points ABC, it creates
a branch from A to B and also from A directly to C and onwards. In a
route of about 30 trackpoints I get one or two occurrences of rogue
branches. The training software / mapping software shows a perfect
route.
Has anyone else seen this issue? (It does this irrespective of the
software I use, Garmin or others) .

Has anyone else seen this issue? (It does this irrespective of the
software I use, Garmin or others) .Have you downloaded the latest firmware? I got a update alert just
recently. I don't use it for navigation myself.Garmin is pleased to announce that new software is available for the
Edge 305.The new software is: Edge 305 Ver. 2.90
Garmin recommends that you install this software by using our WebUpdater
software. You can learn about WebUpdater on this page:http://www.garmin.com/products/webupdater/
You can download the new software from our website by clicking the
following link:http://www.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-00447-00
Changes made from version 2.80 to 2.90:
* Corrected problem where Edge could lock up if the track log filled up
while the map page was displayed.
* Eliminate possible large jump in elevation value on START button press.
* Fixed problem where unit could store incorrect stopwatch time if
powered down while timer was autopaused.
* Changed compass page display to show Distance and Time to Final,
rather than to Next when doing a tracback. This is an automated message. Please do not reply.

Looks like this is a another Garmin issue after all. Found the exact
same map faults on an Edge 205. I am speaking to Garmin UK to see when
they will come up with a fix. -
The Edge series of cycle computers do have a map drawing bug, admitted
by Garmin. This bug causes the course points to be joined up in the
wrong order. They have fixed the bug and it will be in the next
software release. It goes to show that if you do your homework and present a good
structured argument to these companies, they are more likely to
respond.Chris
