Bikesoiler has been officially allowed off the leash. He's getting his stuff prepared now, I'm about to tuck him into beddy-byes and give a kiss goodnight. 😉

Was Bikesoiler, Rory and myself this morning.........probably set the record
for the highest average age of riders and bikes!!! No carbon fibre or
aluminium frames to be seen anywhere!!!

Was a good morning for a ride.....none of us went particularly hard and we
had a nice long break at the coffee shop. We all had a bit of a scare on
the way to Clintons Road.....we were in single file and hugging left hand
edge when a truck came up behind us at the same time as a couple of cars
came from the other way. We were on a slight bend to the right and couldn't
get any closer to the edge of the road........truck slowed down a fair bit
and then decided to squeeze past us. The cabin of the truck just brushed my
right shoulder (I was at the back) and then didn't miss Rory and Bikesoiler
by much. All three of us ended up in the gravel for a bit but luckily
    nobody came off!!!

Apart from that and an elderly driver who was all over the place near
Greensborough it was a good ride.

    Merry Christmas for tomorrow!!!

  4. Had every intention of doing the ride at 7:30, but decided I needed another 2 hours sleep, didn't get to bed until 1am. Did the route solo, with no bakery stop, sure makes it a tougher ride! Even had a TT happening on the run from St Andrews, although this really involved me trying to drop a wheelsucka who did absolutely no work.

    .

Similar excuse for me as well. I ended up going for a r_n a little later.

    Merry Christmas!

Curious... why drop them? What are they taking from you?

To make the ride more interesting probably. And also probably just because they are there. Like sprinting for traffic signs and painted lines on the road. Part of training. Its a good feeling to ride someone off your wheel. I cant seem to do it when the road is going up though🙁

  8. Sorry Lads. finally got out at 9am so was in aparallel universe about 1+ hours behind you. roads were spooky_quiet.

am thinking BoxingDay may be another sneaky BR(x) but boxing day awaits and seats wait for no (wo)man...

Isn't it amazing how everyone but you is faster uphill?

    - who figures gravity is different uphill.

I rode my MTB at Daisy Hill this morning, it was eerie how quiet it was there for a Sunday morning.

MM, I seem to recall you passing me on a pinch hill at Daisy doing twice my speed last time we rode together. You're no slouch on a hill!

You did the same on another hill the same day too - sideways as I recall that time though, clearing all who got in your way 😄

Finally talked my brother into getting back on his road bike. Its certainly been an "annus horribilis" for him after having his coccyx(?) removed and then a knee arthroscopy or two .... ..... We had a thoroughly enjoyable (although very slow) roll out to Uni and back home. Beautiful day for it. Perfect. I always feel so completely and utterly relaxed out there - so many wonderful (old) memories - for us both. My brother spent 8.5 years all up out there. Has Tam done that many yet??? 😄 😄

I dont recall passing you at warp speed. If I did, it was probably because Lotte was ahead of you. She is always a target for me on the hills out there, only because that's the only bloody chance I have of catching her on a mtb. The only chance I have on single track is to forge my own trail and "shave" a few corners, usually out of control as you have noted

Sorry guys was up in smoky Howqua. Had some good riding in what used to
be Lake Eildon (lots of good bike tracks where the water used to be),
and one 2 hr ride around the hills where the granny gear on the MTB got
    a very good workout.
