I have the edge 305 with cad + HR and I have been having problems recently. 2 questions:
I do a lot of workouts on the trainer and for that reason, I utilize the rear wheel sensor in order to guage workout efforts. The area that I ride my trainer in does not get good satellite reception. The edge constantly tries to link up for connection and thus is constantly giving readings that are in the zone I am shooting for and then 5-10seconds later it reads 2.4mph or something rediculously low like that. Is there a way to turn the satellite function off and simply use the rear wheel sensor? This problem significantly throws off my stats for my trainer sessions and makes the workout harder to perform because I cannot tell if I am maintaining the proper speed/intensity.
Secondly, I went in to set my HR zones manually and although I didn't have any trouble setting them, when I use the HR zone indicator on the display window, it will have weird readings. For example, the top of zone1 for me is 129bpm. When my HR is at 119 my HR zone read 1.9. It had moved into zone2 before I even reached 129bpm. This is a problem in all the ranges. I do not understand why the computer would have a hard time translating. None of my zones overlap or anything. I have checked to make sure my custom zones were saved and they are. ~Nick

1. you can turn off the GPS. see the instruction manual for more info.
2. there's a recent posting on motionbased.com's Edge forum about the same problem as yours (too lazy to paste the link). the solution appears to be to set your HR zones in Training Centre and then upload it to the Edge 305 unit.
