'04 Campy--when?

Yes Veloce will be offered in 10-speed for 2004. (And 9-speed also.)

When you buy a conversion cassette, be careful to check for your hub on the compatibility list. They
don't work on everything. And the American Classic one doesn't work on all the same hubs as the
Wheels Mfg cassette.

There are also a few rumored prices on the campyonly.com site.

I did some checking and apparently if I use the spacer that came with my Mavic hub I can use an AC
10s conversion cassette with this hub and a Campy 10s drivetrain. And if it ends up being
incompatible, which I'll probably be able to tell by running it on the stand, I can just return the
cassette (the dealer's already told me this would be ok) and go with a regular Shimano 9s cassette,
which many have assured me can be made to work quite well.

Overall the prices look a lot higher but when you consider that Chorus 2004 is Record 2003 with
added carbon cranks you get the carbon cranks for 30 euros. Groupprices with alu cranks haven't
increased that much considering the changes in components. Some even got cheaper, Chorus 2004 with
alu cranks (best buy IMO) is basicly Record 2003 and is 220 euros cheaper now!

I would not call it a major upgrade year. There are no major changes apart the introduction of a
10-speed option for Veloce, carbon cranks and seatpost for Chorus, triple 10sp cranks for Chorus.
Minor changes include new colour (option?) for Centaur*, more/different rear derailleur cage
length** options accross the range and carbon bits on Chorus derailleurs.

Centaur (03) is ALREADY largely very similar to Chorus 03, and Centaur 04 will hardly be any
different to Centaur 03. It's more that Chorus is being made more like Record rather than Centaur
being upgraded. So no need to wait if you want Centaur - and don't wait if you want to be sure of
silver coloured stuff. Note Centaur 04 cranks still require 111 or 115.5 bottom brackets which is a
clear indication that they are NOT the same as Chorus 03 cranks, and Centaur brakes are not same as
Chorus brakes, etc.

** previous "triple" or long cage mechs are now called "medium" and the new "long" cage mechs are
extra extra long - only really necessary for the most extreme wide gear ranges, I reckon - in fact

Chorus, Veloce, and some Record is in stock today... 2004 Chorus is much like 2003 Record in cranks,
Der's, Ergo Shifters...

I hadn't noticed the carbon Chorus Ergos. I suppose we *can* call it a major upgrade year
for Chorus!

I actually like the look of the new grey Centaurs and it's one of the reasons I'm willing to wait a
bit longer. I think it'll look nicely on the Ti frame I intend to build up (Habanero road). A matter
of taste, though, obviously. Thanks for the heads up about the rear derailleur. I'll probably want
the new medium. If this goes up to 28 or 29 it should be fine for my needs.

I am led to believe that the shift disk in the Record lever is a different design that is lighter
and has a coating on the gear to keep it smooth and slippery.
