Opinions re Selle Italia XO Genuine Gel Seat

I have an XO Trans Am. Is that the same? It is too soft. Padding is
tall and thick. It is useable though. I thought it was going to cut
off blood flow in the thighs like soft saddles do to me. But I've got
500 miles on it and haven't had to take it off the commuter yet. But I
sit a little more upright on the commuter. Not squirmy just little too
tall and soft. Softer and taller than an Era Luxe, if you know what
those are like.

You can borrow it to try it if you pay the shipping both ways.

The Trans Am has a cut out that the XO does not. Also the Trans Am is
five grams heavier despite having that cutout in i t. That causes me to
wonder if the padding/gel is much thicker on the Trans Am than it is on
the XO?

I just noticedthat the XO says Extra padding for more comfort. I wish
the shops here in town had this saddle so I could at least feel it. If
they did I'd buy it from them even if it cost a few $ more than online.

Sell Italia does *NOT* make things easy by having so many saddles with
such similar names.

I've got XOs on two road bikes and a triathlon bike. Haven't found a saddle
I like better yet (though to be fair, I haven't tried too hard as the XO's
are great) I'm 6ft and 13st if that makes any difference. Did try various
lightweight horrors a few years back but figure that if I need to lose 100g
off my saddle, I'd rather eat a bit less breakfast...No squrimy feel, the
gel bit is small but just in the right place. Gel has lasted for a few
years. What more do you want for £20?

Mine is an XO Trans Am, I think. I like the level of padding on my
ProLink Trans Am much better, and wonder what the C2 is like. At least
the XO is wide enough for my bones. I can get both sitbones on a flite
or max flite, but roll a hair to either side and one bone falls off.
The Prolink seems to be a bit wider or at least flatter. the flite and
maxflite transams are a$$-wedges because the profile of the plastic
does not match that of the top surface - it drops off towards the edges.

I have a Flite, a Pro link and a Brooks. I use my Flite on the commuter
bike, because it's not wide enough for long rides (good for <40 miles).
Pro-Link I've used for years, and I liked until I started doing double
centuries. It would burn a hole in each cheek, where the sit bones are. So
now I'm on to the Brooks saddles. What a magnificent saddle that is. I got
the B-17 model. They said the break in, could be painful, not for me.
Straight out of the box, it felt better than the pro-link. Wide where it
should be, and narrow where it should be. Also the back is not as flat as
the pro-link, and there is a feel of like a horse saddle to it, if you've
ever ridden horses. But it's heavy, and what I've read on it, don't fare
well in wet climates, so that's the catch. But I live in the desert, and
I'm not a racer, so it's the perfect saddle for me.

I've had an XO Genuine Gel (with black perforated leather). It is quite
similar to the Flite Genuine Gel (another saddle I've used quite a bit)
in terms of surface, leather, and padding. It is rather hard, not
squirmy at all. Hard to tell it was gel at all actually.

I've also used an XO Trans Am Flow which had a lot of padding and was
soft. It was quite nice if you want a saddle with a lot of give.

The C2 in Pleather is [censored] if you ask me. No better than the plain XO.

My regular seat is SLR Gel Flow which is nice except the embossed
lettering on later models feels rough through my shorts. It is much
softer than the XO Gel (if I recall correctly) and the Flite Gel.

For $29 a leather XO in blue (if it matches you bike!) sounds like a
good deal to me.
