I've managed to snap the axle on an old look clipless pedal. The pedal is very old (so old that the paint has worn off and I couldn't work out for certain the exact model) but clips in/out just fine.
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to get replacement axle, and whether these are a 'standard' size or if there's no hope of a match.

I'd suggest going to Ebay (search "look pedals"😉, finding the same model with a chewed-up body (so it'll be cheap) and buying. Don't worry about not knowing the model number, the folks on Ebay usually don't know either - match by appearance, that should be enough if you look closely.
Of course, you may find it just as easy to throw out your pedals and use the ones you buy. TONS of old Looks on Ebay, usually very reasonable prices.
