For sheer child manipulation they trounce computer games (not that we
have any). Kids down our street will queue like choirboys for a ride on
the KMX. At school it had the highest coolness factor in the bike shed.

Still uncommon and easily rideable by a 5yo with a backrest.

We have two KMXs and our 6 and 5 year old love them (will have to buy the 3
yr old one eventually!) However, I do think that at 5 they are really a bit
short for these. The problem is not particularly the leg length but the
fact that most of their weight is over the front wheel. If I do not keep
the front brakes carefully balanced then braking causes the rear wheel to
lift followed by the kart turning very sharply to the left or right
(depending on which of the front brakes starts braking first).

It would be easy to make a gizmo that balances tension in the brake
cables. Or weight the back end with gaffer tape and bricks. :-)

I thought that was the whole idea of KMXs? I *still* want an X class.
