I'm driving my service truck down S.W. Blvd when this dude come off the sidewalk on a mtb. bike and crosses right in front of me. I almost plowed him. He flips me off and yells some profanity my way. I locked up the brakes and everything in the van ended up in a pile against the bulkhead. shop rags in the tools and waste oil everywhere. A 5 gallon bucket got punctured when it rammed loose prybar. Morons like this are hard to take. I do 45,000 miles a year for work and allways give cyclists a wide berth and I am very careful to not tailgate them Why?? Because I am one. And I am equilly careful on the bike. Some people just don't get it. Rant off.

he is apparantly one of those who 'give cyclists a bad name'... but they come in all sort of packaging, not just on bikes.
I had a guy walk behind my car as I was backing into a PARKING SPACE (to clarify, he walked through the space I was backing into. Why? I guess because the sidewalk wasn't quick enough, and the lot was far from full) and had the nerve to start yelling "PEDESTRIANS ALWAYS HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY" etc... followed by him hurling insults at me after I commented he was lucky I did'nt back over him.
Some people are content to be [censored] and jerks; your mtn. biker eg. It sucks, but at least you did'nt hit him. Go ride a few miles and burn off the frustration!

I had a rough day today... almost hit a squirrel. But what burned me up was that twice, at the same spot on my circuit, a car pulled out in front of me. They pulled out when I was a good way away, but they'd pull out and practically stop in front of me, forcing me to slam the brakes. The first time, after the car passed and I started moving on, the car behind him had to lock his brakes up to keep from hitting me... keep in mind this is coming to a stop sign, so he shouldn't have been going fast enough to lock the brakes up anyway... I guess he was just planning on following straight behind the car in front of him. I don't think he would have hit me anyway, but being that I'm relatively new to cycling, this has been the worst day I've had as far as dealing with automobiles. -

sorry, getting to the topic, things like that really grank me off. In a perfect world, we'd be seen as "on vehicles" as well, and I'm tired of it being otherwise. I hope gas goes up to 20 bucks (AUS) a gallon, but only once bikers learn some common courtesy.
