CP doesn't, you do and enter FTP and date range applicable into the athlete home page.

    For the power profile chart?

It uses the max 1 hour AP for the time period.

That will be your max recorded 1 hour Pavg for the date range specified in the MMP chart but that's not necessarily your FTP....

If your data includes maximal efforts of 1hr duration, then yes that likely to be your FTP at the time of that ride since the "best predictor of performance is performance itself". But not everyone has or needs a 1hr maximal effort file to estimate FTP and indeed many riders never do a regular 1hr maximal effort.

CP doesn't measure FTP. You do. CP can help you gather the data though.

Alex, the question specified 'for the power profile chart'.

Hmmm, sorry my bad - thanks.

Well that's a bit misleading then, isn't it? Indeed all the power profile durations would only be relevant if you actually had full on tests during the periods specified.

That's why I was wondering. I was hoping FT was calculated based on NP for 20' X .9. I do a 20' FT test on the trainer, but not a 60' test.

I don't do a full on 60 min. test either. That's one thing I wish we could specify rather than the program itself picking it out.

This whole discussion is in the context of the performance manager chart. If you want an automated "scoring" of your current fitness then you need to do efforts at the time intervals in question. For instance I don't do 5 second efforts indoors on the trainer and the temps have been hovering near zero for several weeks. I won't get any valid 5 second bars in the automated performance manager until I can get back outside. Same holds for the other durations. I don't really see how that's a problem. All it does is let you see your strengths and weaknesses on the same sort of chart published in Hunter and Coggan's book. You can just as easily look at the chart and see where your current FTP stated in W/Kg falls.

Sure it could be coded so you could overwrite any or all of the powers for the different time intervals but then it wouldn't be an automated tool picking bests from your files.

Since 0.9X x 20min AP (or NP) is not a reliable measure of FTP across the rider population, I doubt CP would ever include it. So the default is to measure actual performance itself. It's just that not many estimate FTP that way.

Well the way to do it of course is to set up your own chart....

Mark all rides with your 20' intervals with a unique marker in the text entry field for that day.

Use the search function to select only those days by typing in the text marker above.

Use the chalkboard to create a chart just from those selected rides. Do a 20min watts/kg periodic chart to compare rides. OK - it's only 20min data but if that's going up, presumably FTP is as well.

I do this to compare my 1 min MMP from MAP tests. I just search "MAP Test" and voila!

    No, the power profile chart.

Is there an echo in here😉

    Agreed.

That's exactly what I've come around to doing. Works just as well, just not "automatic" daveryanwyo mentions.

...or why I never considered including power profiling in WKO+ to be a very high priority. The analogy that I always make is that it is a "special needs" analysis akin to the retirement or college savings calculators you often find in personal financial programs (e.g., Quicken): useful at times, but not something you look at very often.

ooops, late night typo:o...my point about the lack of a need to hand enter specific values was directed at the power profile chart...
