  1. Jelly Belly. Not the Pro team either!!
I have a bit of trouble with abs and trying to keep them trim.
No, dont tell me about sit-ups, can't do them due to a bad back.
Wont do pilates. No fit ball.
Give me something I can do to trim the waist.
(ladies like a fella with trim & taut waist)

  2. Diet. Cycling tends to do SFA unless you get uber thin.

    Lose weight!

If you want stronger abs then try this: lie on your back with legs in the air on a 45 degree angle hold in the upright position, then swing the legs over to the left and hold for aboyt 5-10 secs with legs just off the ground. Back to upright and then do the right side.

Dont expect that ^ to do anything for definition tho! Lose fat, try creatine and get a tan.

Put it this way I have a scrawny upper body but its also very defined. IN the summer I have veins popping out everywhere and you can see the striations in my forearms and shoulders...I can only bicep curl 11kg's 15 times :p

Atleast I LOOK stronger than I am.

  5. I lost 17 lbs in 4 months and I cannot prove it, but I think this is why. Cycling about 8 hours a week, most in Z3 and Z4 which is right at the correct HR to burn fat most efficiently. I also have bene drinking a energy drink called Hammer Perpetuem which I am not trying to advocate, but it has fat burning ingredients in it (I think Creatine is one). I also do crunches and leg raises 2x a week.

I am not one to believe in miracle pills or drinks, but I wonder if its a combination of those fat burning ingrediants with most of my exercise being done in the "endurance" HR zone.

Anyways, I am starting to level off where I am at due to beer and ice cream and Thanksgiving leftovers. But once I get back on a routine of a better diet, I hope to keep shedding the lbs slowly but steadily.

I'll look at Hammers website and copy the ingrediants that are in there that helpt to burn fat.

  6. Here it is:

    * L-Carnitine, an amino acid cousin, acts as a transporter of fatty acids into muscle mitochondrial cells where the muscle fuels are burned for energy production. Most of us carry at least 85,000-90,000 calories of energy in fatty-acid stores. If the body is depleted or low in L-Carnitine, our fatty acid reserves are unavailable because they lack sufficient amounts of this carrier agent.

    * Choline Barbitrate, a member of the B-complex family, also functions at the cellular level, helping the body access its stored fatty acids for energy conversion.

  7. Eat less, move more. Simple but it works and watch the kinds of food and food combinations that you consume.

Oh yeah-and drink lots of cold water during the day. I think that helped me too. Of course that was easier when it was hot outside. Now that its colder-I just find myself running to the bathroom annoyingly too often.

  9. Eat less......bike more. Works every time.

Pretty much what everyone else has said on this forum. The important thing is weight loss can't be targeted to a specific body part. If you could do situps it would strengthen your abs, but wouldn't do anything special to burn fat in that area. It's an old myth that you can focus your weight loss to specific body parts by choosing your exercise. If you want to lose the spare tire you've simply got to lose weight overall. And there's no magic, just calories in vs. calories out. You get to choose where to place your efforts (eat less, exercise more) but it's simple energy/mass balance.

I feel your pain, I carry my excess around the middle as well and I have to get rail thin elsewhere before it dissappears but eventually it does.....

  12. I will add that it is the hardest place to lose weight from and as you age it gets more difficult to keep it off.

  13. You dont need to lose weigh bro. Dieting [censored] is for chicks to look good for you, not other way around.

Be a man bro, chicks cant say nothing, if they do then tell them to shut their trap.

Ok you are incorrect about z3 and z4 being the most efficient way to burn fat. The higher the intensity the more fat you burn the only difference is when you get to higher intensity's you also burn carbs which turn to fat anyway!!! So if you want to lose weight do intervals as well as long rides!

Those supps you just told us probably do SFA! Creatine also does nothing for weight loss It bulks up your muscles with water...thats it. It ends up helping recovery between maximal sprint efforts and also helps strength/ sprinting. Nothing to do with weight loss.

Here are some supps that are proven to help weight loss! Albuterol (look it up) and caffein in its pure form! Take some No-DOZ without breakfast and go for a ride...about 1 hour into the ride have your brekky on the bike. For that first hour you will be burning a lot of fat as long as you riding at a good intensity.

In the end its just calories in versus calories out...no supp can beat that! And we all know we burn a hell of a lot more cal's in a race than we do put putting around.

That is not a personal rant at you ryan huang :p 😉...

I ride every morning without eating and it is usally a 1 1/2 hour to 2hour effort. I also generally race (club crits) on an empty stomach or maybe a small tub of yoghurt. This is purely because I am lazy, I wake up, get dressed and ride.

Do I need the No-DOZ to increase fat burning or is that for people who feel like they have no energy of a morning?

Also re weight loss. I get complaints at home that I start looking scrawny when the fitness kicks in. This year I am combatting it with a fair bit of upper body weights. I wont get as light but I will be happier with the fit of my pants 😄
