Aside from the follow car, it is not far off. The weather here is starting to resemble the Gavia in '88. 😠

[font=Verdana]I was born in a small country town in Australia.... about 2 hours from Melbourne.... in the 80's in Australia there was nothing on the pro scene in newspapers, tv, magazine etc. All the riders at the local bike club rode their dad's hand me down frames with pirate Colonago stickers on them and shimano kit because no one could afford the imported and ridiculously expensive posho euro campag kit..... one day when stay at my Uncles place in Melbourne my mother was out shopping in the suburbs and came across some bike store called "DeMaro's" or something like that... she knowing nothing about cycling except that she drove me out to the races in western Victoria drop me off, I'd race then have ride my way home with most times calling her from a phone box to come ans get me because I was lost or flattered more times than I had tubes.... anyway she dropped into this bike shop which was owned by two Italian brothers who once a year went back to Italy and bought up big on the all the Euro kit - jersey's, knicks, mavic and campag ! farking campag ! Anyway not knowing what to buy me she bought a book on the 88 Giro... it was all in Italian but had colour pictures of the race... I was amazed on what I saw... I was hooked ! these guys were mad, riding in the snow ! and up a mountain !Pictures of grown men pouring hot water over there hands to they could keep riding.. pictures of grown men refusing to get into the team car and quit… Hampston wearing just his cycling shorts and about 20 layers on top... incredible.... from that day I fell in love with cycling... you don't see racing like that anymore.. potential leaders bombing off the front with 80km to go shaking up the race.... Hampsten would have won the Tour if he used PED's he always had one or two bad days... he was a great rider and his 88 win was like nothing I'd seen before..... [/font][font=Verdana][/font]
