The torker DX Muni is the best uni to get on a budget.
It is a splined hub and crankset, and that is what you need when doing
muni.
People will recommend the Qu-Ax, but you only save a little on the
weight and will have about the same strengthed uni as a DX. I don't
think its worth the money to save a few ounces to a pound.
Mainly what to look for, is the wheelset. A splined wheelset is the
strongest you can get. The Torker DX is splined, and very strong.
Another thing too look for, is the frame. The old 2006 frame would
brake, but the improvements made on the 2007 fixed that problem, so
there is nothing to worry about now. Also, the clearance. Doing muni
will get a lot of rocks, mud, dirt, anything stuck up into the frame.
The Torker DX has PLENTY of clearances. =p
Another thing to look for is the tire. For muni, many people use a big
fat 3inch tire. They are very nice, but a lot of people find them to be
too big and slugish, and use a 2.6 tire, which is also a very nice
size.
