An unusual facility, and one of the funniest. At least from
the viewpoint of the chair safe behind a computer.

That isn't funny, that's homicidal! A 'dotted line' cycle lane against the
flow of traffic in the rest of the road - so cars aren't even excluded
    from it!

I must have cycled past that dozens of times and not noticed it.

You should be able to identify the large arrow in the bottom centre of
this satellite view, and the psycle path continuing in the door zone
    of the side road.

Me too - though I worked out exactly where it was without resorting
    to the map.

It's not quite as bad as it looks - the contraflow cycle lane is
    towards
the noses of parked cars so although you're in the door zone you can
see any occupants, and they'd be facing you as you approached. The
side street it's on is very lightly trafficed anyway: I think I've only
    met
someone coming towards me once - and as it's on my way back
from Sainsbury's and B&Q I use it a fair bit.

ehh?, how about cyclist exemptions from one way street without
contra-flow lanes/ You don't even have a dotted line to attract parked
cars. Both of these are actually useful increases to cycle
permeability. IMO one of the most common hazards is cyclists who think
that the contraflow lane should be used as a with-flow cycle lane. I
have used many of these without being killed. In the dim and distant
past I have even used them whilst wearing a helmut and still survived

    best wishes
