Hub grease

I use a castrol grease in my MTB wheels and it runs fine. In my road singlespeed, I run them with oil only and they fly. I might do some research into lithium grease.

I always use that green Phil Wood grease that comes in a tube.

Same question for Bottom Brackets, use any grease or special grease (which one)

i remember telling an A-Grade rider during a bunch ride, that I used Vaseline and he laughed and thought I was joking, another A-Grader said "actually it is a good idea, does a bloody good job" and he had been using it for years himself...the thing is, if he ever used lithium and changed nothing else about his bike set-up, would he notice a measurable difference...

At the LBS I used to work for, all we used was lithium grease unless the customer specified otherwise. Never noticed any differences other than it broke down into a pretty good mess as opposed to Phil Wood's (which I run in my beater commuter bike). In my race bike I ran 10W-40 motor oil. Talk about zippy!

I am using Dow Corning Wheel Bearing Grease, Molybdenum di-sulphide, slippery s#!t, in wheel and pedal bearings. 😉

I am pretty sure automotive lithium grease is thicker than Vaseline so there will be more drag if you notice a difference (I doubt you would).

Lithium soap added to oil thickens it up & makes it grease. The term "Lithium Grease" encompasses many, many different types of products.

I bought some tri-flow synthetic but it had turned white when I serviced my BB bearings, suggesting it was mixing with water.
