Hi, I`m using a 26"(650c) Spinergy Rev-X tubular rim on the rear of my Optima Baron. The rim has a
two piece titanium axle. I set mine up to work with 135mm spacing. A 32mm valve extender works
perfect with the Rev-X. A previous wheel I had on the bike consisted of a Velocity Razor rim, DT
spokes(32), Hugi 240 disc hub, Stelvio tire, Continental tube, 11-23 Dura Ace cassette, and Garrie
Hill carbon fiber wheel discs.....it weighed in at 1940 grams. The Spinergy Rev-X has a Tufo S3 Lite
tubular tire, and 11-23 Dura Cassette, and it weighs in at 1306 grams. A weight savings of almost
1.5 lbs!!! Here`s a pic of my wheel...

Just be careful. These wheels have a long history of breakage. If you do an internet search you will
find this information. And, when one breaks, they just literally shatter like glass. There have been
many injuries, serious ones resulting from breakage of these wheels. Marci

When I first put the Spinergy wheel on the Baron I did a century ride that had some of the roughest
road I`ve ever ridden on....the Rev-X wheel survived it. If you plan on using clincher tires you
will get a harsher ride than with tubular tires and the wheels will weigh more. If the reason you
are not considering tubular tires is because of the hassle of gluing the tires to the rim, Tufo glue
tape takes care of that problem very well. When shopping for Spinergy wheels, make sure you get the
later model wheels because the carbon spokes on the older models were not properly tensioned, but
this problem was corrected on the newer wheels. Also, the Spinergy Rev-X wheels come in three
versions....standard, which are identified by blue decals, X-tra stiff(red decals), and X-tra light
(yellow decals)....Here is a link to wheel deflection testing...of the many wheels tested, the later
model Spinergy Rev-X were the stiffest. The older model Rev-X had spokes that went totally slack
when tested.....definitely not what I would want to be riding on.....

Hi Marci, You`re absolutely right about Rev-X wheels shattering, and yes, there were some very
serious injuries. I found this info before I purchased my Rev-X, but went ahead and bought it anyway
since it was a later model wheel which were reportedly more durable and less likely to disintegrate
unexpectedly. Also, I felt that since my Rev-X would be on the rear of a lowracer, chances for
serious injury would be reduced if it decided to self destruct....of course I`ll probably be wrong,
and end up in a body cast for 6 months if the wheel self destructs....Anyway, here is a link to the
