I'm guessing one of these is the right one, but am unsure. Never bought
inners for an old man's bike before.

I'd aim at the first of those. In practice inner tubes are far more
interchangeable than the numbers suggest, but the first ones actually
include the stated size in their range.

Doesn't because there's a 31mm difference in *diameter* between the two
so-called 26 inch sizes. The diameter is the modern one when the width is
expressed as a decimal.

None of those is the right one - for a start you're unlikely to want
presta valves, and 26" metric isn't the same rim diameter as 26"
imperial.

Yes, but.

Inner tubes *are* intended to fit a range of sizes, and are, of course,
quite elastic. The Schwalbe tubes I normally use in my 26 x 1.25" tyres are
actually rather larger than that in their major diameter (559 being at the
smaller end of the 26" formats) and list a range of compatible rim formats
on the box.

The Continental tubes that "elyob" is looking at (presumably on the Wiggle
site) also state a range of sizes on the box:

Nae bother... I found out the degree to which one can "cheat" when I
went away very suspicious from an LBS with a 27" tube I was assured
would be fine on 700c (only presta tube he had then and there due to a
stock fiasco). And it did indeed work just fine on a 700c wheel.
