1. Just curious, but what is everyone's max watt output? What's the highest you have hit for a short burst of power?

2. 639 watts on KK computer I'm a recreational rider still.

3. 1098 watts is my best 5s im 135lbs. there is already a thread on this that may give you better insight.

http://www.cyclingforums.com/t352414.html

4. I suppose there's a fluke number (e.g., 1500W) lying around somewhere in my ride files, but I consider mid-1100s to be my "repeatable" max power. Of course, if I lived in India and did my training rides in a game preserve and had a Bengal tiger on my tail, who knows?😉

5. Is it safe to say max watts is about triple FTP?

I think max wattage and sprint ability in general, varies widely, and is closely related to one's 'fast-twitch' makeup while having no connection with FTP.

Hmmm, let me put it this way, my maximal wattage is now over 1500 - note, no tigers, great white sharks, or any other large predatory animals were used in obtaining this figure

If max watts, over 1500 for me, were 3x FTP, then well, chances are a few people on this forum would be buying jersey's from my hypothetical professional team!

7. Was that one of your standing start tests or is that a roll on acceleration power measurement?

I'd like to place a pre-order, please. Mens size L. 🙂

I agree that 3x FTP would be on the slow-twitchy side.

9. Lucy-wow!! I was shooting for 1400 watts by next racing season-1500 is great!! Making excuses, but only been back on the bike since last week of July and have done a couple of 1100 watt sprints with 1080 5 sec power.

NOw the question is how much higher can it get and can I do it at the end of a 3 hour race!!

Can we see a design? I'd make a great lead out man.😉

What about the OP? Ask but don't tell????

I did that on a standing start - I prefer those when trying hit maximal power, whereas I like rolling starts at speed, for getting better 15-30 second power numbers.

I think you should keep at it and will see improvement. How much improvement is something I am always curious about when it comes to NM power. In these very forums, I've read some folks suggest that NM power isn't very trainable beyond one's 'natural' ability, as well as some contrary views. I've increased mine from 1405 to 1585 in about a month, though I attribute that more to technique and form than to training per se.

Wow you'd be the lead out man? Ants pants mate, I'd get my own TGV

12. 1625.

13. 1630 threashold is 230🙁 ...and climbing.....slowly

Not at all. FTP has zero correlation to peak power.

1972. (not counting the fluke 2153 I know was wrong!, or the 6000 I got in the rain that day, LOL)
Unfortunetly I can't consistently train it, due to cold weather and my work schedule. That will change for good, this spring, I hope. There's no greater feeling than that explosive energy when you feel like superman, haha.

Never underestimate how good you can become at something if you put your mind to it. That should be my sig, eh?

If you don't mind Lucy, what do you weigh and how tall are you?

i know, i know... but the only way to put that 1500W in perspective i.e. how many W/kg.. depends on size. 1500W can be anywhere from good to spectacular.

18. low 900s.

i know you say you have very little in the way of fast twitch fibres, but damn!... low 900s!? i'm in the 1200 range, but I can do that at a weight 56kg... i don't think you're try'n and/or don't train NP at all...
