C-Record Syncro adjustment?

Joseph, the stuff you have is very different from other indexed
"systems". Those look to be Syncro II levers; they require a specific
ratchet cam "insert" depending on the RD and the FW you want to use. If
the levers you bought were used with the C-Record RD you bought, then
they at least have an insert that will work with the RD you have. If
not, good luck making this work. Oh, and you also must determine if the
insert is for a six or seven speed FW. I kinda doubt these inserts are
still easily obtainable, put Peter Chisholm might shine some light on
this.

IMO, the easiest way out is to use some friction DT levers or DT levers
with a friction mode (e.g., anything from Shimano). IMO, the Syncro era
indexing left alot to be desired, and you might enjoy the RD more in
the friction mode, anyway.

be fun to have "click" shifting. I still have the Super Record friction
take-offs if I can't get it all to work. The levers appear to be for

together.

All this stuff is for novelty sake anyway. This bike isn't going to see
many miles anymore. The bike worked fine before, but I want to make it
all Italian, and as period as possible without going crazy in the money
department (IE no NOS Delta brakes).

Campagnolo actaually made a slide in barrell adjuster but this RD is
not index compatible and never really will work as such..just use
friction as I do.

I had those, once upon a time; probably the nicest friction-only
shifters ever made.

Joseph: My 1986 Pinarello came stock with C-Record Synchro gear. It never
indexed well no matter what I tried. And I have managed to get a lot of odd
stuff to work.

This and all previous generations of Campy derailleurs had 2 key
deficiencies in terms of being index compatible: the lack of a spring-loaded
top pivot bolt, and no slat parallelogram cage. The stuff looks pretty, but
it works in friction only.

The sober reality is that a scavenged Suntour VX derailleur matched with
some Suntour powershifters will shift better than any of this stuff. Then
add a modern chain and one of Shimano's outstanding current Hyperglide
freewheels.

And it would not index with any kind of Syncro insert that I could find.

Campagnolo finally got their act together in 1991 with Ergopower. I use
Ergo on almost all my bikes, and will continue to until I'm convinced that
there is an efficient, reliable, cheap and light internally-geared hub
system.
