1. OK you Kurt Kinetic Road Machine users what is the maximum speed you have had your trainer up to? I hit 29.3mph on my last interval.๐Ÿ˜Ž

  2. I think I hear crickets.

  3. A few weeks ago I decided to finish my last set of Level 4 intervals with a sprint (seated) and I managed to get to 38.1 mph on the trainer.

    Chirp-Chirp....

What tire are you using? My trainer starts squealing like a banshee when I even think about going that hard. Trying to round out my stroke during a sprint (to prevent tire slippage) makes my knee feel like it's going to explode each time I come over the top. ๐Ÿ™

Exactly. That's the sound it makes on each downstroke...... ๐Ÿ˜„

I'd like to allude to a key phrase in my post: 'weeks ago'!

My sprinting experiment with the trainer was brief and not one that I plan to repeat. Largely for the reasons you stated - I notice lots of slippage when I exert a lot of power, which throws off my timing. I may be reading too much into this, but I was concerned that, with the slippage and all, it could be potentially harmful to my joints and biomechanics given the substantial force.

Back then, I had a Michelin Pro Race tire but quickly realized that the trainer was making short work of my tires! So now I am using a fairly generic Bontrager tire - cheap to replace, among other things.

My trainer, if you listen closely, says something more like 'are we done yet!'. I'm cutting back on trainer work a bit and for the better I feel.

  6. If it slips, apply more pressure to the tire.

I'm not sure the slippage affects that, but I really don't know. In my case, the problem stems from trying to kick forward at the top of the stroke under the heavy load -- knee no likey! ๐Ÿ™‚

๐Ÿ˜„ You should contact Kurt Kinetic Co. with your story. I bet they'd be interested in making an internet commercial featuring you blowing up Fluid2's with you 1300w seated trainer sprints.

I know you may find this to be an oversimplification, but the whole sprinting motion on the trainer does not feel natural to me. That alone, is reason enough for me to forego it.

    That's very funny! ๐Ÿ˜„

Considering I'm not on the best of terms with my trainer at present, I do not know what KK could offer me in the way of compensation. Well.....they could build me a trainer with a 100 pound flywheel! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Couldn't you just tighten the knob at 110 psi and then fill the tire to 130 psi to prevent slippage? At my sprint speed I only noticed a little chirp as I accelerated quickly from 22 mph but no slippage after that.

That's amazing Lucy that resistance unit must have gotten a little toasty two years ago I couldn't hit 38 mph down hill.๐Ÿ™‚

Sure I could. Or, I could just concede the wreath to Lucy and save myself the embarrassment. ๐Ÿ™‚
