Hi all,
I am posting this alive.
A fortnight ago I was cycling home from work about 6.00 pm.
It was raining lightly and had been all day.
The road was well lit, and normally well used at that time of the evening.
I had working lights and two reflectors fitted.
I did not hear the car approach, just a sensation of the world exploding as
I was hit directly from behind.
I was sent flying down the road completely disorientated, until I realised I
was sliding down the road on my right side.
I came to a stop with an agonising pain in my lower back, in a puddle.
I looked to my front and saw the car drive past and into the distance.
Next car stopped for me instead of giving chase(so he told me) I was
thankful that he did.
Next person on the scene was a doctor. Who was terrific.
Ambulance and Police were called.
I was unharmed, my back pain eased and I was allowed home by the ambulance
team.
The only injurys I suffered were extreme bruising and swelling to my lower
back and a small friction burn to my right elbow.
Clothing damage.....a small rip at my right cuff on my waterproofs.
Cycle damage......rear wheel bent around... right crank bent at right angles
and right pedal missing.
Me ...... dead lucky. I weigh 17 and half stone and am 59 years old.
It had been raining and I must have aquaplaned along the road on my water
proofs.
The road had been resufaced only last year.
keep safe all
Peter
