How good is this bike? Quick Reponse Please

The MSRP for a 2007 Trek 1000 is $709. And, that's with stock components. Assuming that bike is in good shape, $600 is a good deal when you consider all of the upgrades. That's just my opinion. You should try riding a 54 if you can. I am your height and all my bikes are 56's, but I would be ok with a 54.

the only problem i found with this bike is that im 5 10 ish n its a 54cm frame
i was told to get a 56 cm frame... will this be too small for me?

i will probably have to borrow money to get this bike but i searched and saw that most okish bikes are around this price brand new

A 54cm frame is too small for you ... and, Trek measures C-T, AFAIK.

At 5'10", you probably want a 56cm C-C (~58cm C-T) frame ... one with a 56cm top tube (c-c), regardless.

Otherwise, the particular bike is certainly "okay" @ $600US, particularly if you were looking at one in your local bike shop this past Summer. I suspect that the final price will probably be closer to $800+ ...

Regardless, if I were on a tight budget, then I would rather spend less ($200-to-$300US) on another bike and eventually put Campagnolo Veloce shifters (~$100US on eBay) on it ... plus, saddle and/or wheels of your choice at some point down the road ...

There are a lot of bikes available if you are patient OR willing to do a little upgrading, yourself.

FIRST rule of shopping on eBay: Do not bid under pressure. There is rarely a deal on eBay too good to walk away from. Trek 1000 series bikes are a dime a dozen on eBay--search for recent completed sales.

SECOND rule: If you don't know whether it is a good deal or not, you probably should NOT bid. The experts out there will likely outbid you for the good deals or let you overpay.

I just looked at that auction. It might be a good deal at $600 but most recent sales of Trek 1000s are in the 300-500 range. The Ultegra stuff and the Neuvation wheels are a nice upgrade, but I would say that $700 would be the max I would go--But only if I wanted a 54.

At your height you are probably either a 54 or 56. If you think you need a 56, wait.

Good luck in finding a bike--this is a generally a good time of the year to find a deal.

My vote is with John, wait!

Go to a bike shop and get measured, there will be sales just after Christmas. You may just pick up an 06 Felt. 😄
