the 24 inch DX is a great Muni, KH or Koxx being the top munis. Though I
rarely see anyone do muni with the Koxx munis.

Shin guards, wrist guards/gloves, and a helmet. Falling doing muni will
almost always send you flying forward.

A camelbak. Minimum of 2 litters. =p

Does weight play a large part in Muni. Would i be better off to save for
a KH or buy something say like the DX now and slowly upgrade it?

I dont think weight matters all to much for Muni, cuase your not doing
large gaps and jumps where the weight matters. You cans till do the
jumps and gaps, and whatnot though.

You could get the DX and upgrade, but I would be wary of that choice,
cause the DX frame holds 40MM bearings, so it would hold the DX hub or
profiles. If you wanted any other hub you would have to buy a new frame
with it. Though if you end up just upgrading your frame, you can shim
the 40mm bearings to fit the bigger bearing holders on frames.

Thanks, yeah i can only purchase the DX of Ebay from Tassie so i guess
that is not going to happen, it is a 2006 model two.

Why cant Unicycle parts be universal?...
I have the Nimbus 24" Muni and the Qu-Ax 24 to choose from in my
current price range.

the Qu-Ax is really strong, though it is quite heavy. It has brake
mounts as well if you feel like the need for a brake. Weight isnt that
big of an issue in muni, though it is easier to control and hills
become easier as well.

hmm, Thankyou all for the 'food for thought' i am going to go and slowly
chew over it.
I think a brake will be nice, i found it hard to slow myself down on
some of the steeper desents, which most of the time lead to me landing
at the bottom less one 20" nimbus trials

I know alot of people who do insane trials on their munis. Eric(mango
ont he forums) prefers his 24" muni for trials. KH did everything on a
muni for a while too.

I'd say if your going ot do muni and trials, get a muni.

ps. I really don't think a brake is necessairy. I suggest you get used
ot the muni ect. and then decide wether or not you want a brake.

My dad is a engineer at boing so he's into all the composites and stuff
and some day in the (probably very distant FUTURE) I'm going to build a
carbon fibre muni. D 😄 😄 😄 😄 😄 😄 😄

So why don't you just do that. :p

price, strength.

some people have build CF munis( john foss has one(I think so at
least)).

there very expensive, have to be reinforced by aluminum so that they
don't break, and still probably aren't as strong as an aluminum or
steel frame. also, because you have ot reinforce it, I don't think the
weight coems out to be much less than a KH frame.

I would go for the QU-AX. I have one and I ahve had no problems with it,
and the weight doesn't really matter, you get used to it. As for a
brake, I dont think you will need one, esspecially on the QU-AX because
it has 170mm cranks, which provide TONS of torque. It is a great uni, I
think you should get it.

depending on how much you weigh or how aggressive you ride you should
look at the onza 24''. If you're worried about weight, that would be a
pretty safe way to go but it's said not to be as strong. I'm not sure
on the crank length or anything but my friend that has it says it's
basically a freestyle weighted unicycle but with a 2.5 tire. I haven't
ridden it but I can imagine that it's nice. I have a torker 24'' dx and
that's also a really nice muni. The dx has 150mm cranks and that
provides plenty of torque. although the onza is about twice as much
money as the dx, I think it is worth it.

the thing is, so, you are ogin to get a DX. but, for $40 more you can
get a Qu-ax. oh wait, for another $100 you can get an onza! then for
another $120 you can get a KH!!! see what I'm getiting at?

different here where i live. The DX comes to just under $400 then there
is postage. the Qu-AX all up will be another $150 odd, then for another
$200 odd there is the Onza then another $100 odd and i can afford the
KH.
Is there anyway i can buy a muni wheelset? because then i can have the
frame made easily.

Yes if only they would stop logging it all and turning it into
plantations.
I was at cradle just last week, took a wrong turn on the way to
school... i walked the overland a few years ago and it is something i
would never forget. Although the road that leads to it is now barren
and logged, but dont get me started. There is so many wilderness places
here, ive been here just on ten years and have not even seen half of
it.
