I take as well as asking them to do something to ease cycle access to
KXStP from the South West e.g. a wrong way cycle lane down the one way
section of St Chad's Street or a right turn for cycles from Judd St onto
Euston Rd.

I don't know exactly where the camera would be, but I dream it could
enforce the the road closure *and* catch those abusing the pavement
slalom.

I don't think those paited lines are quite as intimidating as the metal

AIUI abuse of cycle facilities is a major problem round Camden. Trying
to police this is near to impossible so we get saddled with these
'engineering solutions'...

This is Camden Cyclists joint co-ordinator's reply to my posting:

The 'contour paving' was put into the road closure in Cromer Street
earlier this summer. Some local cyclists reported it to me in August
and we complained to Camden Council and were put in touch with the
officer who installed it.

At first the officer said there was no problem - he'd seen cyclists
negotiating the narrow gap between the kerb and the chunks of
concrete. But eventually he agreed to hold a meeting on site at the
end of September. Stefano and I went as well as the local cyclist.
The officer refused to remove or alter the 'contour paving', so we
agreed on a compromise (illustrated in the last photo). Apparently
Dave Stewart told him that this solution was totally inappropriate,
but he went ahead anyway.

I gather from the local cyclist that the kerb has now been lowered
so the way through is now complete.
However there is no blue bike sign, at least, not from the east.

A sad story indeed ...

Thanks - I guess we will just have to wait for the first cyclist who,
unaware it is there, comes a nasty cropper on a dark night before the
Council will do anything.

As a matter of interest, as I point out in my text, the kerb has only
been lowered for half the width of the bypass chicane. The other half
is at full kerb height.

terms with Real Cyclists™ who scream loudly when problems arise. This
