adversary of mine, is more than willing to meet me halfway once I
cease tweaking him. But I have never detected any give in Tom no matter
how
much I give to him. It will simplify matters for me enormously if I were
to
just
regard him as an implacable enemy.

What gives you the perceived right to cross post in the first place?
For someone that holds themselves in such high esteem, surely you would
obey the customs of Nettiquette.
'Eternal hostility' is something that top posters and cross posters
deserve.

Cross posting is perfectly acceptable as long as the message is of a general
nature so as to apply to various newsgroups. My posts are always of this
general nature and so they will be cross posted whether you like it or not.

However, I certainly do agree with you about the evil of top posting.
