  1. I just completed a 10 mile tt training run at an average speed of 29.3 mph, however this was with a 10-12 mph tail/cross-wind. Does anyone know how my speed would compare to that on a calm day? The route is fairly flat if that matters.

Nice speed, maybe 3 MPH lower. I have a flat stretch I ride regularly and the wind is usually blowing one way or the other but mostly from the west, and mostly at that wind speed. I'm not a TTer at all but I can get around 28 mph with the wind and 22 with out. keep in mind that this is only a 2 mi. effort. The 3MPH figure I gave you is just an uneducated guess....

I'm guessing you'll probably have to ride it with out the wind to know for sure.😄 But, I would guess with that kind of wind pushing you 4 or 5MPH slower

ok, plugging your speed and tail wind into the wattage calculator tells me that for the 10 miles you put out somewhere between 205 to 239 watts average.

With no wind, assuming you generate between 205 to 239 watt average again, this would yield a speed between 21.4 mph and 22.8 mph.

I assumed you weighed roughly 160 lbs with hands on the drops, rider height of 67" tall, bike weight of 20 lbs.

These figures will differ by actual measurements.

Since you say 10 to 12 mph tail / crosswind, meaning quartering tailwind, lets give you the benefit of the doubt and going with a straight 8 mph tailwind to compensate for the variable 10-12 tail/crosswind.

This would give you a wattage output of 277 watts for the 10 miles.
0 tailwind would give you approximate speed of 24.1mph

You need to find someone with a computrainer , an Imagic virtual trainer or a powertap on your bike to even see if you can sustain 277 watts for 10 miles first and that would tell you a better idea of your sustained wattage.

If you don't have access to this, do the same time trial on a calm no wind day and then you will know your average speed and at the same time be able to calculate your approximate wattage output.
