    Question: What's on your feet?

    - Skateboard shoe. (DC, Etnies, etc.)
    - Crosstrainers (Nike, New Balance, Hitec, etc.)
    - Old BMX shoe. (Vans, Vision, etc.)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am interested in what shoes everyone is wearing. I find that a
skateboard shoe works well, but they don't last long and when I try to
stand on the crank arms and sometimes the crown, they tend to fold.
    Help me out.

  2. I have Vans. I voted skateboard shoe. Van's aren't "old BMX" are they?
    They're skateboard shoes aswell right?

I like skateboard shoes for unicycling, they hold up well for me, but
it depends on the brand and model.

  8. mountain shoes only (so your poll did'nt have this option)
they are supposed to protect my ankles ... well supposed
I sprained my right ankle last month and yesterday a radiologist
told me "well you are lucky you did'nt sprained those before: you've
got two bones in your ankle 'welded' together ... that means you have
less way of moving those sideways"
now I understand why I needed mountain shoes:o

  9. I wear Emerica Heretic skate shoes most of the time. They have plenty of
grip but the uppers are suede, so for wet or very muddy rides I wear
DVS Prophet skate shoes, which have less grip than the Emericas but
they are leather and pretty much waterproof.

Compared to skateboarding, unicycling doesn't really wear shoes out.
Both of my pairs are pretty ancient, and I think they will take forever
to wear out if all I wear them for is unicycling.

  10. I use regular shoes, you know, heels to the back and toes to the front
    ;-)

More seriously though: any sneakers will do, I just tie them with Ian's
Secure Knot and tuck the laces.

  11. A while ago -on my search to new shoes- I've tried the 'Orchid Lurker'
It was too tuff, and the shape of the sole did'nt fit my foot.

Then I discovered the 'Duff's Gambler'
It perfectly fit my foot, and the sole couldn't be any better. And so I
now have this model in many colors (and some extra in stock).

  13. I usually wear 661 Dually's for MUni & Trials and leather Converse for
freestyle. They're both high tops that offer good ankle protection from
hits on the crank arm nub.

Canvas Converse Chuck's seem to be a popular freestyle shoe.

  16. I wear skate shoes, but recently I have been having problems using
skateshoes with bad equipment. I now aim at getting a pair of shoes
with a flat very strong sole with very good impact resistance in the
heel, and the material in the arch needs to be such that nothing can
get caught on a broken pedal or pedal pin.

A strong sole for me is a huge issue as the last pair of shoes I had, I
snapped the sole in half, literaly. I can fold the shoe over itself
because right down the middle which means any time I do a drop on them
its like getting all of the impact into that folding point.

  17. I buy a set of KEEN Shoes a few month ago. One pair of 'Keen Taos'
(http://tinyurl.com/y27kke) and one pair of 'Keen Targhee'
I use them for my dayli work and also for unicycling.
Those shoes are expensive but I love them until now cause they are very
strong and water resist and comfortable and the Thargees are also
protect my ancle perfect. They also have a good grip on the pedals.
So for the first 6 month I wear those (mostely the Taos cause it was
summer), I can recomand them much.
There are also a lot of different models for girls and boys and I like
tho view of the most of them 🙂

  18. Hi-Tec hiking boots. They give me (kinda) ankle protection, and a lot of
support. Only downside is, since the sole is so textured and grippy,
they don't stick to the pins that well.

I also have a pair of flat soled Nike hightops that I wear for MUni.
They provide some ankle protection and are very grippy.

that why the 661s are so great. supportive, ankle protection and a
