As I'm of advancing years I thought I would have change from lugging
my loaded tourer over mountain passes and would like to lower the
gearing on my road bike. I currently have a Campag Racing Triple
chainset 52/42/30 and would like to fit outer and middle TA
chainrings 44t and 39t with a PCD of 135mm but TA don't do a Campag
74mm PCD for the inner. I would like to know if the 30t 74mm PCD inner
ring on the Racing
Triple is an ATB ring? If so I can fit a 24t.
You can indeed fit any 74mm 5-hole 24t ring. It's a standard size used for
various road and old ATB triple chainsets including Campag and some Shimano.
See www.settlecycles.co.uk/shop/options.asp?tid=156&pid=533 : TA alloy, free
post.
Or a steel one (from SJSC?) might be worth thinking about if you'll use it a
lot and want maximum life.

By the way, a long* cage Campag mech will actually cope with 24/39/50 +
13-29 and similar, despite what Campag say, so a 44t outer wouldn't be
necessary for that reason.
* current versions, longer than old "triple" ones.
I wouldn't mind a 25t 74mm myself. Anyone know where I could find one (if
they exist).
