I need to choose an epoxy to attach the loose end of my carbon fiber sole on my DMT Ultimax Rsx shoes. There are so many types and brands that I would be more confident with my choice if I knew that someone had already been able to use that choice for the same application. The one fear I have is that if it fails, the job will be infinitely more difficult to do correctly if I have failed epoxy on it (aside from the manufacturer's epoxy that lasted over 2 years or use as my primary shoes and another 2 years as back-ups and bad weather shoes).
It would be useful to know of other applications and results if there are no replies of sole repairs.
There's a (fairly small) difference between laminating epoxis and glueing epoxies, with laminating epoxies being wetter. For a structural repair, use a laminating epoxy of whatever brand. Remember to make a long transition (scarf the seam) from base material to repair. 40 x (!) the thickness of the base material is recommended for CF laminates.
If the repair is to recreate shape rather than structurally carrying - anything goes. But I'd still prefer a laminating epoxy to get better saturation of the cloth. Or you might as well use a filler.
